Dogs can sniff out CANCER

Dogs can be trained to smell some types of CANCER! So far they have been proven to detect lung cancer, breast cancer, and skin cancer melanomas.

With this incredibly cost effective early warning system, getting smelled by the cancer dogs should be a repetitious ritual. Like going to see a dentist every six months. This detection method alone could save untold thousands of lives and billions of dollars every year!

This news is a few years old now, but it's the first I've heard of it. Why isn't this *everywhere* yet?

I came to this blog in search of an explanation of why the 'optimal' numeric base is e. You have a very nice blog going here, you have gained a reader in me, Burton.

Thanks dchero! I post things I find interesting, and hope others will too. I'm glad to hear when people have enjoyed it.

Trying to find publications done on the optimal numeric base frustrated me because I knew the answer had been around for at least 100 years, but I couldn't find any useful references to how they got the answer. I had to figure it out for myself given the single mention I could find. I feel I've incrementally contributed to knowledge as a whole if my findings (or reconstructed proof) save some other people time or spark interest. :-)
